Wednesday WIPs

It’s a late start to my day for posting but I’m so excited to share where I’m at on my pair of vanilla sock. I think today I just might be able to finish one of them, which is the one on the left in the photo below. This is definitely the route I will go going forward for my sock knitting and I simply can’t believe how fast this has gone for me.

On another note … I made a little quilted pouch to hold my art journal and I had just enough room inside that I could also keep a small pouch for my micron pens, pencil, shader and a small sharpener. I loved how it turned out and it was a great way to repurpose something I made a few years ago that was really too small for anything else. I just need to add a couple of snaps so that I can close the flap and keep everything inside, other than that it’s ready to be used !

What are you working on today ?

A Garden Update …

The last two days have been 105°, which is way above our average temperature for this time of year. I thought for sure I would loose a few plants but I haven’t, which makes me so very happy!!

One thing I’ve noticed over the last week or so is that our Pineapple Sage seems to like the heat and has had a major growth spurt. Our peppers too are really starting to grow and I have new blooms on our cherry tomatoes. As far as other things thriving at the moment … the leman verbena has really taken off, the rosemary, thyme and mint are going nuts with new growth and my basil is still doing great.

Bottom photo in the front from left to right: Oregano , Flat Parsley, Peppermint, Lemon Verbena (front center), Pineapple Sage and French Lavender.

I’m excited about what I’m seeing in our little garden area and hopeful that our tomatoes, as well as everything else, will do well over the next couple of months. My hubby has an idea for creating a frame for shade cloth too, which will really help.

How’s your gardening endeavors going ?

Sunday Musings

Sunday has arrived quite quickly and I just realized it’s already the middle of the month. While many of you are just starting your gardens and planting flowers, I am quite the opposite as the temperature are rising here in Phoenix.

At this time I really don’t have much left in my little garden that will be able to survive the summer heat, other than a handful of herbs (rosemary, sage, thyme and mint) and our peppers (jalapeño, poblano, mad hatter, bell pepper and snackable peppers). Yesterday I removed dying plants out a few of our large pots, added more soil and planted vincas in a variety of colors. I love vincas because them thrive in the heat of the summer and never stop blooming.

My joy this week has been taking Cody to the park, which is a daily routine, and capturing photos of him when I can. He gives me so much joy and he is by far the best co-worker I’ve ever had.

My hubby snapped the photo of him hiding behind the pillow on our bed. For some reason he likes to hide behind the pillows. Getting him to sit still for photos is challenging but so worth it to capture memories.

I am making great progress on my socks and now working on the foot of each one of them. At this rate I will be finished with this pair by the end of this week, which makes me quite happy.

Friday Finish

I am so happy to say that I am officially finished with my Azalea Tee. It turned out perfect and fits exactly as I hoped it would. There is a little bit of pooling across the top front portion of the sweater, but it doesn’t really bother me too much.

Here’s the particulars…

Pattern Azalea Tee by Elizabeth Smith

Yarn Manos Del Uruguay Feliz ( 70% Wool / 30% Rayon)

Yardage Used I used 3 1/2 skeins and the pattern called for 5 skeins for the size I made

Modifications I only made two modifications, I chose to make a k2,p2 rib for the bottom band and for the sleeve band in place of the garter bands. I felt the color of the yarn would hide the eyelet design in the bottom band too much and also I do not care for garter stitch bands.

I want to start another sweater but not quite sure yet what pattern I want to make. I have yarn in my stash that I can use for sweaters, so that is a plus, just need to decide and cast something on.

Did you have any fishes this week?
