Lately I have been consumed by collecting new books for our bookshelves. I have donated a few books that I just can’t read or choose not to keep, which has freed up one complete shelf. So yesterday when my mail delivery from Barnes and Nobles and the Book of the Month Club came, I was super excited to have a place to put them.
I love L.M Montgomery and has always been a childhood favorite author of mine. When I saw Marilla of Green Gables by Sarah McCoy, I had to have it.
Anastasia by Ariel Lawton caught my eye and sounded really good. I have always been fascinated by the woman who claimed she was the surviving daughter of the last Czar of Russia. There is much mystery surrounding this woman and her claim, and much wonder of the possibilities.
From Book of the Month my club choice was The Magnolia Palace by Fiona Davis. I enjoy reading period pieces and this book is set in 1919, during the Spanish Flu Outbreak. My add on was The Personal Librarian by Marie Benedict and Victoria Christopher Murray. Another novel set in the early 1900s and is centered around the personal librarian of J.P. Morgan, Belle da Costa Greene. I really enjoyed Mrs. Christie by Marie Benedict and looking forward to reading this co-authored novel.
I truly love adding new to me authors to our bookshelves. I love variety, I always prefer hardbacks over paperbacks, and period pieces really is my genre of late.
I know that many of you have new books hitting your shelves too. What is your favorite book so far this year ?
It looks like my B&N order is finally out for delivery today (the original estimate was last Wednesday), so I'm looking forward to some new books of my own. There's something so decadent about a hardback book, isn't there?

Hurray for book deliveries! There truly is something rather decadent about a hardback. To mean it means it will be kept 😊

I'm trying to decide if I want to read The Magnolia Palace. I've read a few other Fiona Davis novels and have had some mixed feelings.
